Part 11 Winter Trip - Miller Creek RV Resort, Home for the Next Month

Moving day has once again arrived.  The good news is that when we settle into Miller Creek RV Resort   we'll be there for a month.  Found this park on RV Park Reviews.  This is located on HWY 281 between Johnson City and Blanco (straight north of San Antonio).  Talked with Karen in the office several times and she has been so very nice.

Miller Creek runs along the side of the property.  We were lucky to see running water in the creek as it has been dry the last few years.  Along the water is a perfect place to walk or sit under the big live oak trees.

We had a wonderful neighbor next to us, Linda.  She and her husband are living there full time so hopefully we'll see them next April.  Every Wednesday in the rec hall you were invited for dinner which cost $3.00 per person.  Great cook, tasty food, great company.   After dinner the guys played poker and the gals played cards.  I brought my Farkle dice game and we all played and had a blast. 

This has turned out to be a great location for taking day trips to explore the Texas Hill Country.  Definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.  Owners take a very hands on approach so things seem to stay in tip top shape.

Over the period of one month, we traveled throughout this area exploring the countryside and towns.  Landscape is rugged hills and buttes with fields of cactus, mountain cedar, live oak and some mesquite.  Not beautiful in the way of the Rockies but definitely has its own personality. 

Part 10 Winter Trip - San Antonio

So on February 8th we packed up the motorhome and traveled to San Antonio.  We stayed at Braunig Lake RV Resort for 2 nights.  This is located on the south side of San Antonio.

We got up the next morning ready to explore downtown San Antonio.  We started the day off by going to Lulu's Bakery and Cafe for breakfast.  We had seen this restaurant featured on the Food Network and Travel Channels for the cinnamon rolls that are the size of a dinner plate.  Don and I decided that would be breakfast!

The amazing part of this roll was that it was actually quite tasty.  In fact it was so good that we bought one to have the restaurant send one to Billy and Sheri and the girls.

Juanette's small stack of pancakes were 2 Texas size giant pancakes. She gave one to Don and is trying to eat this one!

Next stop is the Visitor's Bureau to get some San Antonio and Texas Hill Country brochures.

Oh oh, noticed that the Alamo is across the street.  Definitely need to make a trek over there.

No pictures allowed inside but we took lots of the gardens in the back.  Gardens were filled with cactus and succulents.  Decided it was a good place to take some pictures of ourselves.

Okay, enough pics of us.  Let's move on to the Pioneer Mill museum and store and heritage home area along the river.

We discovered a lovely area of beautifully restored old homes along the river.

Daffodils are already blooming in the first part of February!

Now a stop for Don and Bill - the Texas Air Museum.

Dinner that night was at a little mom and pop barbecue restaurant that had great food at even better prices.  Pie for $.99 - unheard of!!!
