Part 13 Winter Trip - Black Ducks!

We drove to the town of Llano to look at the city run RV parks.  The one out by the golf course is really nice but the gem of city park system is the RV sites along the river that runs through downtown LLano.

It was here that we discovered black ducks.  Now I've seen white ducks with some black on them but never before have I seen pure black ducks.  Notice how there are some that are black and white, some with just a little bit of white and then some that are pure black.

Even the black and white ducks have black feet and black bills.  Really strange!

What a fun discovery!

Part 12 Winter Trip - Pedernales Falls State Park

Pedernales Falls State Park located on the banks of hte scenic Pedernales River consists of 5211.7 acres in Blanco County east of Johnson City.

Prior to the purchase of this land by the State of Texas in 1970, this was a working ranch known as the Circle Bar Ranch.

When we visited the falls, water was running over the low falls due to earlier rains although during periods of drought it is not unusual for the falls to be dry and there just be pools of water.

After walking for a bit we suddenly came upon the river and the falls.

Upper end of the falls.

Pool and lower end of the falls.

Taking a picture of the photographer!  Yes, it is really this cold outside.
